Royal Rumble Top 30 - January 15

16. Royal Rumble match - 2004

I always flip back and forth on including anything related to Chris Benoit on lists like these. I rarely talk about him, I generally roll my eyes at anyone who says "I choose to remember him for the matches," and any fan talk about putting him in the Hall of Fame makes me gag, but for historical purposes, I don't think you can pretend the matches don't exist.

The 2004 Royal Rumble was one of my personal favorites from the last decade, mainly thanks to great stories told throughout and a dramatic ending sequence. It's unfortunate that my excitement about that finish has been replaced with sadness, but in 2004, it was a good Rumble.

  1. I watched this earlier. I'm still in shock of what he did in 07. You're right, it was a good Rumble (And WM20 was good too) Both are sad to watch. I just sat in silence at the end, two genuine good moments in 2004 have been tainted forever.
