WWE Over the Limit 2010 Preview

Tonight will be the first ever WWE Over the Limit PPV, but as I mentioned in my predictions, I will not be watching live due to the series finale of Lost tonight on ABC.  Sorry WWE, it looks like a solid PPV, and it's nice to see a new PPV concept not centered around a gimmick, but Lost is the television event of the decade!  Even though I won't be watching, and I've already done my predictions, I wanted to go back to something I haven't done in awhile, a list!  Here are the top 5 things I want to see at tonight's PPV:

5. Big Show vs. Jack Swagger given a definitive finish.
I expect there will be shenanigans in this one, but Big Show has had the upper hand throughout this entire feud, he's the largest athlete in the world, and always a credible title contender, he does not need to be "protected" with a DQ finish.  I won't mind if Swagger cheats to win (in fact, he should cheat), but let's just give the match an actual pinfall finish.  Next month is Fatal Four Way anyway, so it's not like Big Show is going to get a one-on-one rematch on PPV any time soon, so I hope WWE will take the opportunity to make Swagger look like a top level heel.

4. Don't leave me, Davetista!
Batista's been too awesome lately to take time off like the rumors are suggesting.  I want to see awesomely evil heel Dave feud with Triple H heading into SummerSlam!  Remember, this is dirtsheet reporting, so take it with a grain of salt, but an "I Quit" match seems like a pretty good way to write out Big Dave for the time being.  Hopefully he'll get his spotlight as he leaves the arena.

3. The Stranger, unmasked at last!
It's been awhile since WWE ran a good masked man storyline, but c'mon, this isn't TNA, so let's not drag it out too long.  Sure, it's only been a month, but if ever there was a good time to do it, it would be to save CM Punk from losing his pure, drug-free, unwashed hair.  Plus, I just really want to know who the hell it is.

2. All the big matches given enough time
Usually when I do one of these lists, I ask that at least one match gets 20+ minutes, but at Over the Limit, there are a lot of matches I'd like to see get that much time.  Edge vs. Orton, Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston, Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk, and The Hart Dynasty vs. Jericho & Miz, these could all be show-stealing matches that could keep the crowd red hot all night long.  If I had to pick one though, it would be the Tag Title match since we rarely get to see tag matches get that much time, and I really want to see Tyson Kidd and Chris Jericho tear it up.

1. Someone explains to me what the freaking Island is!
C'mon, what is this damn thing?!  Why does it need to be protected?  What's the gold light?  Why does it heal the sick?  What is the Smoke Monster?! And what is up with the Sideways Universe?!

And now, the results from our Over the Limit poll:

Edge vs. Randy Orton - 23%
John Cena vs. Batista - 14%
Jack Swagger vs. Big Show - 6%
Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk - 20%
Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston - 4%
Hart Dynasty vs. Jericho/Miz - 18%
Doesn't matter, I'll be watching LOST - 12%

Edge vs. Randy Orton just barely edging out CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio, and the Tag Title match rounds out the top three.  Not surprised Edge vs. Orton took the top spot, WWE is presenting it as the main event and it's a match we haven't seen in years, and we've never seen it with these incarnations of Edge and Orton's characters.  Punk vs. Mysterio is guaranteed to bring the goods in the ring and is my pick for Match of the Night, but you can't count out The Harts, Miz and Chris Jericho.  Those four could really surprise us tonight at the very first Over the Limit.

And make sure to check Kick-Out!! sometime tomorrow for my full review of the PPV, and of course, my live blog for tomorrow's Monday Night Raw!
