WWE Superstars Thoughts - December 3, 2009

I feel like it's been awhile since we've seen Legacy in a straight-up 2-on-2 tag match, and it's been an even longer time since we've seen two guys randomly thrown together to face an established team, so I think that makes Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase vs. Evan Bourne & Primo a fairly interesting contest. Yeah, Legacy's involved, which would normally be an excuse for me to get a sandwich, but they've been used sparingly lately and I like the dynamic of this match, even though Bourne & Primo are pretty much guaranteed to lose. I'm actually really digging this match, Bourne & Primo have had some impressive bursts of offense, Rhodes & DiBiase have the crowd in the palms of their hands, this match is working! As expected, Legacy picks up the win after Rhodes nails Primo with Cross Rhodes, but for a match that could've been a squash, Bourne & Primo looked impressive, I wouldn't mind seeing more of this team. Good tag team action, something that's been missing from the undercard since JeriShow took the tag gold.

ECW's contribution to Superstars is up next with The Hurricane vs. Zack Ryder. I like the idea of this bout, it's nice to see The Hurricane getting a chance to wrestle someone other than Paul Burchill, and while I'm on that thought, it's nice to see Ryder in the ring with someone other than Shelton Benjamin. Decent match between these two, a fun back and forth contest, but just as Hurricane gets control, a Masked Man attacks! Hilarious, I assume this is Paul Burchill's way of getting around being banished from ECW? Well hey, if ECW has a superhero, I guess it needs a supervillain?

Smackdown once again providing our Superstars main event with Matt Hardy vs. Dolph Ziggler, which is a match between two guys that are probably the epitome of being lost in the shuffle. One of these guys will regain a little bit of their lost momentum in this match and the other will continue to flounder, which is unfortunate since they're both capable of big things on Friday Nights. This is really a great Superstars main event, make sure you check it out if you missed it, but Dolph Ziggler is the one to pick up the surprise win after reversing the Twist of Fate into a backslide! Tough break for Matt Hardy, but after all these constant losses for Ziggler, he needed this one.

Honestly, this was the best Superstars that I've seen in quite awhile. Every match was rock solid, and sure, the ECW match had a DQ finish and it looks like we'll be seeing more of Burchill/Hurricane, but it was done really well. Watch this show, Hulu, WWE.com, WGN America replay, this was just a great wrestling show.
