Opening Bell

Welcome to Kick-Out!! Wrestling, I appreciate you taking time out of your day to visit a blog based on something as bizarre as pro wrestling. If you're a fan of the pseudo sport, I think you'll enjoy this blog, as I'm aiming to make it the complete opposite of every other wrestling site on the internet, and by that I mean I want it to be good. Aside from a few exceptions, I find most wrestling websites to be cesspools of tabloid "journalism," full of sensationalist writing, outright lies, and flat-out plagiarism. I've been reading these websites for over 10 years now and it seems like everyone who works on one hates wrestling and I wonder why those people do that to themselves.

Personally, I LOVE pro wrestling. I can't quite explain it, but it's just one of those things from my childhood I never grew out of and once I saw the likes of Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Jake "The Snake" Roberts and "Macho Man" Randy Savage, I was hooked for life. It's not something I've ever taken a break from watching, I don't remember a time in my life where wrestling wasn't a part of it and I cringe at the idea of how much money I've spent on various merchandise, event tickets and pay-per-views over the years. To me, professional wrestling is my sports team; like the people that stick with Los Angeles Clippers, I will always watch wrestling, even when it's really bad... and believe me, there have been times when it's really bad.

If you're not a wrestling fan, those bad times are probably part of what turns you off from ever watching it. That's okay, it's certainly not for everyone, but I think even the biggest non-fan would find some aspect of the show that they would find entertaining if they just gave it a chance, so this blog is for you too. I hate the fact that wrestling has so many negative stigmas attached to it and stereotypes surrounding its fans. We're not all dumb hillbillies that think it's real, I'm college educated (well, technical college educated... psh, details) and I enjoy wrestling in the same way that I enjoy any other scripted movie or TV show. I want to help people understand the nuance to pro wrestling, appreciate the athleticism and enjoy it in all its campy glory. So for you non-fans, I hope future entries will help at least give you a different perception on wrestling and its diverse group of fans.

It's no coincidence I picked this weekend to launch this blog, this Sunday marks the 25th anniversary of WrestleMania - pro wrestling's equivalent of the Super Bowl - and I'll be here to provide my thoughts on the event, as well as the 24 that came before it. Be on the lookout for my top 25 matches in WrestleMania history sometime this weekend. Please come back soon and feel free to subscribe to the blog as it will help inflate my delicate ego.

  1. Looking forward to seeing more posts!

  2. I also wonder why other wrestling sites are so negative. Why write about something you seem to hate? I love wrestling. My son says that I am addicted to it and he's right.
